STEP 1: Make sure no water is running anywhere inside or outside, before and during testing. Pick a spot inside or outside where you can hear the well pump turn on and off when running the water. Use a 1 gallon pitcher and a 5 gallon bucket. Again, without any other water running, start filling the bucket with water until the pump turns on, then stop. Now, determine how many gallons were drawn before the pump turned on. It's good to do this several times to averaging your results. Tip: When the bucket fills to the top, then use the 1 gallon pitcher to continue filling while you empty the bucket, once the pitcher fills up, start refilling the bucket, at this point you will have drawn 6 gallons. Please write the average number of gallons drawn along with your PRO-LAB test results.

STEP 2: Still with no other water running, turn on the water, when the pump turns on shut off the water, with a watch, time how many seconds it takes before the pump turns off. It's good to do this several times averaging your results. Please write the pump run time in seconds with your PRO-LAB test results. You just determined the flow rate of your water. This will now be used to control the flow rate of your Iron Guard™ to ensure proper flow rate for media rate saturation, delivering superior filtering performance.

LET'S BE SURE: The PRO-LAB test kit results will indicate if there is iron, or a bacterial iron or both in the water. Iron filters do not remove bacterial iron from the water. When you have bacterial iron, it causes orange and yellow staining but you will need to bleach the well to solve this issue. Bleaching a well is very simple and recommended once or twice a year to keep bacteria growth down. BE AWARE: With the results from the PRO-LAB pH test, the resin bed will be set to match the acid level of your water. This ensures the resin or media remains in its optimal condition to provide years of reliable service.
