Manganese Greensand Filters are sometimes good for low flow rates, but are rarely the best iron filter. They use a strong chemical called potassium permanganate. We want to protect our customers from the use of harsh or poisonous chemicals. Iron Guard™ uses no chemicals.

You should never use minerals that raise pH inside of any iron filter or sulfur filter.

An “Iron Breaker” will not remove more than 2ppm of iron or hydrogen sulfide for more than 6 months to 1 year before costly reloading of the filter bed. It is the least effective way of removing iron, but there are companies that charge upwards to $5000 for such technology.
